Happy Sunday =)

How's everybody's Sunday? Hope you all had a good weekend =) We wanna eat out for brunch today so we went to city for The Grain Store at Flinders Lane. They are currently at the no.1 place in Urbanspoon's talk-of-the-town list so we were tempted to check it out.

Its quite sad to say that we were a little disappointed especially when we were heading to the place with the high 'talk-of-the-town' expectation. And when we say its disappointing, its not because the food is terrible or something. To be fair to The Grain Store, the quality of the food we ordered was good but their menu/cooking style/cooking culture somehow just doesn't suit both our taste and likings. 

After brunch, we had to stay in the city to pass some things to Mr's cousin. Both of us were craving for an after-meal dessert so Mr suggested La Petite Gateau but unfortunately it was closed on a Sunday so we changed our plan and head towards Melbourne Central. We walked passed La Belle Miette and nothing can stop Ms from going into the shop to get the best macaroons in town!

It was very windy on the outside so we stayed in Melbourne Central to kill time, we scout around the building for some sweet tooth to fix our cravings but nothing seems to be satisfying as our thoughts was all about Brownie and Passionfruit Chocolate Gateau from La Petite Gateau. End up we sat down in Theobroma Chocolate Lounge for some chocolates.

As for dinner, we came home and boiled corn soup with pork bones and carrots add some red dates, scallops and wolf berries. As weekends are the days where we are allowed to indulge in everything sweet and fattening, we ended our night with Magnum's honeycomb ice cream accompanied by running man(the funniest tv show on earth)! A sunday well spent =) Goodnight people and have a nice week ahead~!

What about Replete Providore?

Having brunch in Replete was an impromptu decision, we were supposed to be eating dim sums that morning afternoon in Tao Tao House but it's a full house. 8 hungry ghost wandering on the side street trying to think of a place for nice brunch and Mr thought of Replete cause it's just few blocks away. Mr had been there for their big breakfast before, he said that it's good and they serve real big portion.

Eggs Benedict - grilled ham hock, mustard, poached eggs, english muffin, hollandaise with extra hash brown

Replete Breakfast - poached eggs, roast tomato, mushrooms, hash brown, bacon, chorizo

Replete Omelette with chilli, ham hock and other ingredients

Corn Fritters - istra bacon, sour cream, avocado salso, sweet chilli

Ricotta and Orange Hotcakes - lemoncurd, strawberries

Those that had Replete Breakfast was very satisfied, just that some might find the bacon a bit too salty to their liking. However, the Eggs Benedict was disappointing as the poached eggs were over cooked. The Ricotta and Orange Hotcakes was good, le friend initially wanted to have the other hotcakes from the special menu board but some of the ingredients were not available so he'll just have to settle with this. Overall food was good, if we want to have big breakfast we'll go back to Replete.

Class started! No more sleep-till-noon-wake-up-nothing-to-do days for me, no more random brunch hunting and outing till semester break =( Oh at least I'm class free for friday so yayy to longer weekend =D Met up with one of my besties for breakkie one day, she brought me to Brunswick for JellyStone as we wanna try something not so mainstream.

We love our breakkie! We shared our food so that I can taste both dishes as I had a dilemma choosing which dish to eat, like I always have. Did you ever had the experience when you look at a menu and there's so many dishes that you wanted to try but you've only got one stomach? It happens to me all the time! I can feel Mr's frustration whenever I asked him what should I eat =P

Back to JellyStone, both the savoury Omelette and the sweet French Toast was gooood~ Wouldn't hesitate to go back for second but it's quite a tram ride away from CBD and we need to take a few train stop to reach the CBD as well so going to JellyStone won't be a regular thing. It was a good day, we sat there chatting and gossiping non-stop as we haven't met for so long and there's so much catching up to do. Instead of always going to those mainstream and top of the list brunch place, I like to try out non-mainstream brunch place with nice atmosphere too but it's hard to find places like these by my limited sources. Any recommendations where's to next?

Breakkie and Tea Date : Two Birds One Stone & Lindt Chocolate Cafe

Is Melbourne having pms today? Early morning it was wet and drizzling, noon time it's sunny and warm(went up to 21 degree celcius) and blows strong wind with heavy rain near evening. Mr said "now this is Melbourne". Lucky we decided to go out yesterday instead of today. Yesterday, Melbourne was stable, warm and sunny! Perfect day for outing so we went to Chapel St hoping to do some shopping and of course brunch hunting!

Our pick-of-the-day cafe was Two Birds One Stone, located at a small lane along Toorak Rd that we'll have to pass by while heading to Chapel St, just a few 10 mins away from South Yarra Station.

We had a nice loooong chat while waiting for our meal to be served, they certainly took quite some time in the kitchen. Ms enjoyed her Eggs Benedict, especially the smoked ham but Mr was not happy with his Roast Chicken Sandwich, the bread was abit too elastic for his liking. 

After brunch we went to shop around and then we walked pass this chocolate shop and to our surprise it's Lindt's chocolate! Lindt chocolate is one of Ms's favourite chocolate brand, eating Lindt's chocolate itself is already so good, imagine eating cakes and desserts made from it. Oh So Yum!!!

Ms had her hot chocolate in one shot, melted chocolate pot was emptied and yet the steamed milk was still 80% there, YAY for THICK THICK HOT CHOCOLATE =D

Looking into emptied cup while Mr is still having his own sweet time with his waffle, hot chocolate finished in less than 90 seconds =(

There's a few Lindt cafes around Australia and sadly Australia only but fret not, it's as simple as 1 2 3 to make your own hot chocolate or waffles or fondue with Lindt chocolate bars that's available in most supermarkets. Just heat it up and mix it with hot milk and there you go, now you can enjoy Lindt cafe under your own roof.
